introduction In the twenty ninth academic year, the Seminar's puhhcation dealt with the agricultural aspects of the environmental protection problems in the Carpathian Basin. With the cooperation of the Pannon Agricultural University's Faculty in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary, the published articles covered the following topics: 1, The change of water resources management due to Gabcikovo Hydropower (Slovakia) on the Danube. General description of the environment problems in Hungary including historic review of NW Hungary's recultivation and drainage program around Mosonmagyaróvár. 2, Soil management in the Great Plans and agrotech. plant protection. 3, Energy balance in agr. production. Effect of dry and wet spells on crops. 4, Genetic manipulation in agr. environment. 5, Waste treatment including fertilization and usage in agriculture. 6, Plant oil derivates for engine. The Editorial Board of the Seminar Series together with the Steering Committee of the Seminars appreciate the joint effort of all contributing members, participants and lecturers.
