Foreword We Have Our Tenth Year Behind Us Every working year is an accomplishment in the life of a civil organization. It means that our work is needed, that we can still stand on our feet and that we have acquired new experiences. There are anniversaries that make us take a look back to the past years and alsó make an introspection so as to re-evaluate our mission, our goals and the tools used for achieving them. 2003 was such a year in the life of Civitas; we had our ten-year anniversary. Ten years are significant in the life of a civil organization in Romania. Over these years many organization disappeared and many new ones appeared in our society. We stayed and will stay to serve the civil society and the local governments. This stability gives us strength; it is a value that we cherish. 2003 was a year of introspection and of planning the future. The result of our introspection can be expressed in one sentence: The power of Civitas Foundation lies in the foundation itself and in the people working for this foundation. Everything else is accessory that we need. Professional, responsible, goal-oriented colleagues are indispensable. These last ten years were about them! Csaba Hajdó Executive Director
