Examples in Finite Differences, Calculus and Probability [antikvár]

PREFACE since the publication in 1931 of An Elementary Treatise on Actuarial Mathematics it has been suggested on many occasions that the usefulness of the book would be increased by the addition of further examples. The inclusion of additional examples in the book as it stood was impracticable, and it appeared that the difficulty could only be overcome by the publication of a supplement to the book. This supplement accordingly contains a further selection of problems on Finite Differences, Calculus and Probability, together with some hints for solution. It has been considered neither necessary nor advisable to include a hint for the solution of every question, and, moreover, in only a few instances has the complete solution of the question been given. It is hoped that the supplement will prove of value to students, especially to those who have completed the course for the examination and who desire to attempt the solution of extra problems for the purpose of revision.
