Preface to the Second Edition
This booklet is offered primarily for the increasing number of Christians in our churches who are persuaded of the reality of evil spirits and who seek guidance as to how to practice deliverance ministry. For those who need a more detailed explanation, I have addressed the grounds for believing in demons in a separate paper.* I also recommend Graham Twelftree's Christ Triumphant, an extension of his Nottingham University doctorate on the subject of Jesus the Exorcist.
Since I wrote the First Edition of this booklet, the former Jesuit priest, Francis MacNutt has published Deliverance from Evil Spirits. Francis has a wealth of experience in the ministries of healing and deliverance and covers the subject admirably. He deals with whether or not demons really exist, explains how he first became involved with this ministry, and gives instruction on how to pray for deliverance.
Some may be concerned that a booklet such as this gives Satan too much attention. I thoroughly sympathize with this view as I have no interest in glorifying Satan. However, in a short booklet on deliverance ministry it is not possible to cover the necessary ground without looking closely at Satan's work.
In this Second Edition, chapter four has been rewritten for the sake of clarity. There is also substantial extra material in
