Bővebb ismertető
The Earth is a restless and sometimes violent world to live in. Every year brings its share of disasters. Volcanoes belch out streams of fire, the ground heaves in earthquakes and tidal waves sweep over the land.
Avalanches of snow are common and deadly mountain hazards. They can occur even on slight slopes. Avalanches can be triggered off by earth tremors, loud noises, or even people walking on loose snow. They can also start spontaneously, especially in spring as the deep winter snowfalls begin to melt. Avalanches are fearful sights; thundering along at speeds of over 200 m.p.h. they can flatten forests and bury whole villages. The havoc caused by avalanches is a dreadful reminder of the immense forces of nature.
