Until now, secrecy has surrounded the private lives of the Royal Family like an invisible screen. The establishment knows it must protect the monarchy, come what may, if the class system is to survive into the next century.
Fortunately, not all of those in high places agree that it is in the public interest for Her Majesty's subjects to remain ignorant about the conduct, becoming or otherwise, of members of the House of Windsor. Royals, by birth or by marriage, are as accountable as anyone. If the revelations of 1992 prove nothing else, they show that the human face of royalty urgently needs to look into many mirrors.
