Before you listen to each one, there will be some pre-listening activities. The first extract in this unit is a conversation between a police officer and a woman who owns a shop. The conversation takes place in her shop. For example, you may be asked to listen for some specific information:Tasl(3Listening for a specific purpose Read the following questions and find the answers when you listen to the cassette:a Was the shop owner expecting a visit from b Who was in the shop at the time the police officer? How do you know?of the robbery?Now listen to the cassette and try to answer these questions. Don't worry if you fail to understand every word that you hear. In the examination, you will always hear the extract twice, and you will always get more of the meaning by reading the examination question itself.For every listening extract in this book, there are further activities to encourage you to listen to the cassette again.
