Foreword // Ith the 2002 season over, I am delighted to write the preface to "The Formula 1 Yearbook" at the end of a year which brought so much success for Scuderia Ferrari. 2002 was indeed a record year for Scuderia Ferrari. This season we managed to notch up a fourth consecutive Constructors' title, while Michael Schumacher took his third Drivers' crown with us, the fifth of his career. We managed to do even better than in 2001, setting a new record for the number of points scored in a season, totalling the same number as all the other teams put together and winning fifteen races, including nine one-two finishes. Our car proved to be extraordinarily reliable this season, with Michael Schumacher completing every single one ofthe 1090 laps on the 2002 world championship calendar. Unfortunately, we were not able to achieve the same level of reliability on Rubens Barrichello's car. Our team tackled the championship with an even more united spirit than ever. Because these successes, far from lessening our thirst for victory, only served to sharpen it. The atmosphere within our squad is that of a "dream team", although we were aware that we could trip up at any moment. Ferrari is now at the summit. It is considered as the ultimate reference point in Formula 1. Our motivation, as well as our passion for motor racing and for Ferrari is such that we will do all in our power to reach the same level of success in 2003.
