Fullerene Research 1994-1996 [antikvár]

Foreword Humans have descendants, at least most of them do. With books that's different, their majority does not, although there are exceptions. This book represents such an exception. Its predecessor, "Fullerene Research, 1985-1993" was born in 1995. Since that date many events happened, one of them of primordial importance to the topic: the 1996 Chemistry Nobel Prize has been awarded to Curl, Kroto, and Smalley, for the discovery (in 1985) of the fullerenes. Fullerene science is today advancing on many fronts: not only are new methods of preparation, detection, separation and purification being developed, but the gradual uncovering of their physical and chemical properties, the synthesis of new endo- and exohedral fullerene compounds and the search for applications is in full impetus in many countries all around the world. The growth rate of advances published and the interand crossdisciplinarity of the field makes it difficult for the researchers working in different fields and subfields of science to have an overview on the achievements reached until now and on their relationships. That's why the availability of a comprehensive bibliography of the journal literature on fullerene research seemed quite timely and opportune. The bibliography that follows has been compiled in an attempt to meet this need. It is limited to the journal literature on the topic by extending the time frame of its predecessor to 1996. It contains more than 4300 referenees. In order to make it as comprehensive as possible and to ensure a wide coverage, a systematic search has been made of speciálist primary and secondary periodicals and of computerized and CDROM databases. Books, reports, and many other types of publications as non-journal proceedings of conferences and meetings were not included. The inclusion of books and monographs which for the moment are not too numerous is planned for the next edition. Obviously, a bibliography of this kind can never be complete; notification of errors and omissions for incorporation in subsequent editions will be welcomed. The quality of the papers included in the bibliography varies widely, but at this stage is has not been possible to attempt a qualitative selection. A statistical analysis of the bibliography is not included this time. The authors namely thought that the analysis of the bibliography by bibliometrie methods is worth a study on its own, which they plan to publish separately as an exercise of scientific and technical intelligence squeezed out of the published literature. It is planned to continue this bibliography for a few more years, in case need and interest from the fullerene research community will make this feasible. The authors feel obliged to acknowledge, once more, all those who have contributed in various ways to this work.
