preface
In the last decades, parallel to the development of modem gastroenterological examination techniqes, the struggle against gastric cancer has gained further impetus.
The use of fibrooptical instruments, in addition to systematic histological control and follow-up examinations, has facilitated the detection of early cancer cases. This development is of great importance in the preventive medicine, especially from the point of view of gastric precanceroses. Gastric conditions considered to be precancerous seem to be one of the most often discussed and rejected problems of gastric pathology.
This book contains the wide-ranging opinions of an international group of experts in the form of studies based on the lectures delivered at the symposium on gastric precanceroses held in Jászberény, Hungary, November 9-10, 1973.
We do hope that this volume gives a useful survey on gastric precanceroses, thus, contributing to the further development of gastric cancer prevention.
