By presenting to you this Guide with information on about a hundred, carefully selected catering establishments, we wish to direct you what and where—and in which surroundings you may find all that the capital's catering industry has to offer you. Restaurants, taverns, inns, pastry shops, cafes, self-service restaurants, bistros, snack-bars, night-clubs will be introduced to you on the following pages. Pictures with informative texts will help you to make your choice. We shall tell you in a nutshell about the shops' past with regard to history, cultural history and architecture, the style of their building and furnishings, their main gastronomic characteristics; also, we shall give you some practical advice on how to get to the places. The catering shops have been grouped according to the quarters of the city which have developed in the course of history. Thus when devising programs for sporting events, sightseeing tours or excursions, it will be made easy for you to choose also the places that seem to promise the kind of respite, refreshment and gastronomic enjoyment best suited to your taste.
