Introduction
The Giant Book of Knowledge is a family encyclopedia containing over two thousand entries arranged alphabetically for easy reference. Five hundred colour pictures amplify and illustrate the text.
Subjects covered include science, history, the world around us, famous people, botany, zoology, the arts, space and transport. From aardvark to Zulu, from dinosaur to laser, this book is packed with facts which will amaze and inform both adults and children.
How to use this book
Looking up a specific person or topic is very easy as the entries are arranged in alphabetical order with no subject divisions. This also means that the book can be delved into at random to reveal a fascinating range of valuable, general knowledge information.
Every major country in the world is included in the alphabetical listings. At the very end of the book you will find a relief map of the world showing the continents, plus a list of countries and their capitals divided by continent. The flags of some of the world's major nations are also pictured.
If your want to find a particular country on a map, look at the tables of the end of the book to see which continent it is in, then turn to the alphabetical entry on the relevant continent. For example, if you want to find Malawi on a map, look at the list of continents and you will see that Malawi is in Africa. Turn to the entry on Africa in the book, and you will be able to find Malawi on the map of Africa.
