Preface To take stock of the state of the art in this fast-moving field, International Symposia on GnRH Analogues in Cancer and Humán Reproduction were held inGenevain 1988,1990 and 1993. These symposia permitted frank interdisciplinary discussions and the exchange of results as well as the development of ideas. The interdisciplinary nature of this field of research became evident from the 140 lectures presented on basic and clinical features of GnRH analogues during the 1993 symposium. These lectures were grouped into nine sections, each of which was covered by an established international authority in his/her specific field and summarized in the form of state-of-the-art lectures. For the benefit of the participants and for those who could not jóin us, these state-of-the-art lectures are reproduced in the form of this book. It is our hope that the chosen raporteurs have presented in this volume the state of the art of GnRH analogues '1993'. The book, although small in size, summarizes clearly the manifold impact of GnRH analogues in the management of many pathological conditions and may open new dimensions for students, physicians, biochemists and researchers. We alsó hope it will stimulate you and your colleagues to jóin us at the 4th Symposium, 8-11 February, 1996.
