Abstract This new revised edition of the guidelines aims to help fínal-year students write their theses to the best of their capabilities. Since its first publication in 1993, the authors have strived to provide practical advice that students can apply to their own projects. Each subsequent edition has benefitted from the comments of students and faculty. The guidelines should be consulted as a companion text to other manuals and in combination with the requirements of individual consultants. This edition introduces three major changes. It adopts the citation standards of the Modern Language Association; it provides authentic illustrative models taken from student theses; and it includes the revised grading sheet.
