Preface The term 'allergic' is often used to describe disorders which either the doctor or the patient suspect may be due to a reaction to a foreign substance. On this basis the conditions which are most frequently considered to have an allergic cause are described in this book. The management of these diseases is covered irrespective of whether appropriate investigations have established an allergic basis or not. Each of the authors has expertise on particular allergic conditions. It is hoped that this integrated approach will provide generál practitioners, hospitál doctors and senior medical students with practical advice on the diagnosis and management of any allergic conditions they may encounter.
