Bővebb ismertető
Preface
The Department of Defense (DOD) has promulgated a set of military standards for computer communications protocols. These protocols are required on virtually all military procurements. In addition, most existing computer and terminal concentration equipment in use within the DOD is being upgraded to incorporate these standards. Although DOD is committed to the adoption and use of international standards, their military standards will be the dominant means of computer communications within the military for some years to come. Furthermore, these protocols have achieved widespread acceptance outside of the DOD, particularly in commercial local network installations.

The books also function as companions to the standards documents for those who need to understand the standards for implementation or product assessment purposes.
