RESCUE
AT THE CABIN!
No gunfire sounded. Todden sprinted the last
ten yards to the peeied log wall and dove
there. Lying flat on his back he waited and
thought. Christ, what did it mean — a shooting
gallery situation not taken advantage ol? Had
he been suckered?
The lanky man wormed on his belly the short
distance to the cabin door, the cocked six-
shooter in one hand. The door popped inward
suddenly.
Before Todden's eyes, a dazzling flash explod-
ed. A heavy charge of buckshot sucked air just
over his bowed head. He sprawled, his flat-
tened palm stopping his sideways roll, and his
eyes raced to size up the room. On a bunk In
one of the corners a pretty woman lay hogtied.
Her frightened eyes told him enough: he
should look to his rear! Todden spun. A bulky,
topheavy form dropped from the roof above
into the doorway, propelling himself at Todden
with the strength of a bull.
