Heminevrin symposia [antikvár]

Introduction to the symposium in Prague Nov 25, 1975Ladies and Gentlemen,We are very grateful to Astra Pharmaceutical Export for today preparing an international symposium on Heminevrin in Prague. The problem of alcoholism and alcohol psychoses has been de-cisively growing in Czechoslovakia, recently. Why, e. g. the con-sumption of 100 % alcohol in litres per head yearly in our country is higher than in the countries, from which our today's guests have come, i. e. in Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands and the Germán Democratic Republic. Let us consider still another index; if according to the international average 6 people of every hundred thousand inhabitants die of liver cirrhosis, in Francé such deaths occur with 34 people in a hundred thousand, in England with 2,9 people and in Czechoslovakia with 16 people of every hundred thousand inhabitants. The number of psychoses caused by alcohol abuse is growing in Czechoslovakia, as well, and represents recently 78 % of all cases of alcoholics hospitalized in psychiatric in-patient units.Therefore, the present symposium on Heminevrin is of great importance to us, as it is a medicament approved as hypnoticum, anxiolyticum and anticonvulsant. We are looking forward to hearing the communications of ten experts with very long ex-periences with this drug. AB Astra held a similar symposium like the present one in 1965 in Norway, in 1970 in Yugoslavia, in 1971 in Nigéria and in 1975 in Sweden.In our country, Heminevrin is so far not much known in practice nor in theory.
