PREFACEAfter the successful reception of the drawing book Histology Practical I." the authors decided to prepare a similar practical guide for the histology of organs. Histology Practical II. based on the knowledge of general histology, describes the light microscopic organization of the organs of the animal's body. Not aiming at replacing the detailed theoretically oriented approach of the lectures and histology textbooks it rather focusses on the description of the specimens studied during the practicals. The most important organs are demonstrated with the help of cea. 70 light microscopic sections and electron micrographs. Topics cover the mammalian lymphatic, digestive, respiratory and urinary systems, deal with the male and female genital organs, the endocrine and nervous system, the eye as a representative of the sensory organs, the outer integument and the histology of avian organs. The structure of this notebook is similar to the former one, thus, it consists of some summarizing pages describing briefly the main morphological features of a given section (e.g. general structure of hollow and parenchymal organs) and describes the main features of each section in order to help the student to interpret the image seen in the microscope and to be able to prepare an authentic drawing of the section. It also contains some helpful hints how to distinguish similar sections. The attached CD-ROM might also be a powerful aid for home learning. It contains the microscopic pictures of all preparations shown during the practicals and lectures and even many more that might be useful for the studies. In the hope that you will find this practical book just as useful as the former one we wish you again useful and happy drawing and coloring! The authorsBudapest, 2010.
