The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it usually goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work. —Thomas Edison
Fair question:
Why come out with a new edition of How to Write Give a Speech? And, why now?
Because when this book was originally published back in the early 1980s, the ability to give a good speech was an important skill. Now, as we move through the 90s toward the new century, the ability to give a good speech has become an absolutely critical skill—a skill that can provide business people with a competitive edge.
You see, organizations aren't concerned only about what their speeches might say. Increasingly, they're concerned about what their speeches can do.
Big corporations, small businesses, nonprofit agencies, educational institutions, cultural organizations, political leaders . they're all asking (or, maybe I should say, demanding), "What can a good speech do for us?"
And, as a professional speechwriter, I'd like to say, 'A good speech can do a lot." A good speech can:
• motivate employees
• rev up a sales team
