Hungarian Practical Dictionary [antikvár]

Preface Th is dictionary contains 31,000 entries with thousands of phrases, expressions and illustrative examples. It is the first dictionary of this size based entirely on present-day American Enghsh and Hungarian usage. In selecting the vocabulary, I concentrated on contemporary language as spoken in the United States and Hungary today. The dictionary gives a wide range of practical colloquial everyday, business, medical and technical vocabulary to meet the needs of those traveling or working in these countries. The dictionary is primarily aimed at an American audience. Therefore, it contains a short introduction to Hungarian pronunciation and grammar, but it does not contain the same for English, with the exception of a listing of irregular English verbs in the appendix. Clarifications and comments are, for the most part, also given in English, except for such entries where a Hungarian user would benefit from clarifications in Hungarian. Hungarian users should at least have an elementary command of English in order to use this dictionary. I am confident, however, that a Hungarian student of English will find this dictionary useful and practical.
