We simply could not imagine that it would attract the general public.The publication of the book was preceded by many years of careful research over a broad spectrum of knowledge: physics, biology, history, mysticism, literature, and more. Our aim was to reconcile to a certain extent ancient thinking based on the occult and on magic with the thought of our own time. The past and the future were viewed from the perspective of a method we called in that book "the fantastic;" the book ended with a prognosis for the future of mankind.I have never stopped asking myself the three questions that have always moved the mind of man: Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? In The Morning of the Magicians we raised these questions once again, but this time with a contemporary slant, in an almost barbaric fashion, in the manner of hard-pressed men defending themselves with every weapon available to them, from the spear to the rocket, from the magical incantation to the mathematical equation.We are living in a time when the question marks have grown to such gigantic proportions that they stretch way beyond our planet.
