Time is on the side of Leninism. Lenin's scientific predictions have come true and continue to do so in a myriad different spheres. His ideas are alive and throbbing in the achievements of the Soviet people in building socialism and communism, in the achievements of the countries of world socialist system in creating a new life. They are alive in the successes of the international communist and workingclass movement and of the struggle for liberation in dependent countries, as well as in the pace with which the technological revolution is forging ahead. Years pass, and as the social consciousness of the working masses grows they feel all the more keenly the need to turn for advice to Lenin, the genius of the proletarian revolution and socialist transformation of society, the creator of the Communist Party, founder and leader of the first ever socialist state in history. "The works of no other man have been so widely reád/' said Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, at a special meeting to mark the centenary of Lenin's birth, "as are those of V. I. Lenin. They are being read by men in all countries and on all continents, helping them to live and struggle." According to UNESCO statistics, Lenin is the widest-read author in the world. His works are published in 125 languages. In the Soviet Union alone the works of Lenin-the complete works and those published separately, together with collections compiled according to theme-come to almost flve hundred millión volumes. They are read by young and old and studied by students and research workers, be they philosophers, historians, economists or sociologists. The works of Lenin are the constant companions of politicians, Party, trade unión and Komsomol activists, workers and engineers, collective-farm workers and teachers. Years pass, and the figure of Lenin becomes the greater and dearer to us as a man of unbending will and principles, demanding both of himself and of others, sensitive and understanding to the working people and unflinching in his struggle against ex-
