The Authors Helen Cillman Helen works as a writer and editor, based in Italy. For many years she worked as a journalist in Australia (her country of birth), before moving to Italy in 1990. On all of these guides she works closely with her husband Stefano. Stefano Cavedoni stefano is an actor and writer. In the late 1970s, while still a university student, Stefano's career in the Italian entertainment industry was launched with a bang when his rock band, Skiantos, became a major success. After this he wrote and performed humorous one-man shows. But while on stage he was secretly thinking about travel, forests and mountains. He has worked with Helen on all the previous editions of this guide, researched and wrote many of the walks in Walking in Italy, worked on the update of the Italy chapter for Mediterranean Europe and Western Europe, and wrote the Walks chapter in Lonely Planet's Rome guide. Since 1992, Lonely Planet has kept him busy writing Jordan & Syria, Egypt & the Sudan, Morocco, North Africa, Italy, Spain, Canary Islands and Barcelona. As well as this edition of Italy, he has written the Venice, Florence and Tuscany guides. At last report he was heading back to Spain, where among other things he is working on Lonely Planet's new guide to Madrid. Damien has also written and snapped for other publications in Australia, the UK and North America. When not on the road, Damien resides in splendid Stoke Newington, deep in the heart of north London.
