All the quotations by and about Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis are authentic, and are from published and manuscript sources. This is not to say that they are necessarily true. The number of contradictory and ridiculous things that have been written about JBKO is remarkable, including what the Kennedys have written about themselves, All the quotes from Teddy White s Camelot interview with JBKO are alsó accurate and are taken from the notes and transcripts of the Camelot interview released by the John F. Kennedy Library in May 1995. White s letter to JBKO, in which he writes that he did not transcribe somé of her comments because they were too personal, is alsó authentic. The only exceptions are the "lost Camelot notes," which I fabricated. The Theodore H. White Papers at Harvard University do not contain any copies of the Camelot interview, cataloged or otherwise.
