JOURNEY INTO FEAReric ambler was born in London in 1909. Between1937 and 1940 he wrote six classic novels - includingThe Mask of Dimitrios, which many consider hismasterpiece- then spent six years in the British Army,followed by several years writing and producingmotion pictures.Since 1951 he has written thirteen more highly-acclaimed books. Two (Passage of Arms and TheLevanter) won the coveted Gold Dagger of the CrimeWriters' Association. His most recent novel Send NoMore Roses (in America, The Siege of Villa Lipp)was published in 1977.Mr Ambler now lives in Switzerland.
