KAZIMIR, KAROLY - stage director b. Budapest, 19 April 1928, graduated in 1953 as stage director from the Academy of Dramatic Art; in this capacity he worked at the Budapest and Miskolc National Theatres, at the Petőfi Theatre and Gaiety Theatre (Vígszínház - earlier, up to 1960 Hungárián People's Army Theatre). Since 1961 artistic leader of the Thália Theatre (earlier, up to 1963 Jókai Theatre). In 1958 he started the summertheatre named Theatre in the Round, where since that time every summer a new exciting artistic experiment takes place. Since 1963 he is Secretary General of the Association of Theatre Artists. He is a Kossuth-Prize laureate. His book entitled „Petőfi at the Theatre in the Round" was published in 1968. He is Merited Artist of the Hungárián People's Republic and professor at the Academy of Dramatic Art.
