USING YOUR TOURBOOK This TourBook has one purpose: to make your trip as enjoyable as possible by providing reliable, detailed information about attractions, lodgings and restaurants in the area through which you are traveling. Attractions, lodgings and restaurants are listed in this book under the name of the city in which they physically are located. If the establishment is located in an unincorporated area, it is listed under the nearest recognized city. This policy- called geographical listing-ensures AAA books are consistent, specific and accurate. Use AAA maps in conjunction with this book when planning your trip. No attraction, lodging or restaurant pays for a listing. Each is listed on the basis of merit alone after a AAA field inspector or a designated AAA representative has carefully evaluated it. AAA's unique network of local club travel specialists checks information dealing with attractions and touring areas annually. Road reporters and cartographic researchers keep maps current. There are three components that comprise the book's information: Attractions Maps Lodgings & Restaurants Knowing about these components-discussed here in the order in which you will discover them in the book-is your key to unlocking this TourBook, which AAA publishes to provide its members with the most accurate travel information available. ABOUT ATTRACTIONS The Attractions section of your TourBook serves as a guide to selected places rather than as a commercial, geographic or promotional encyclopedia. Communities or areas included offer something for you to do or see that sets them apart from others in the area or nation. We call these "points of interest." Each state begins by introducing you to historical, geographic, economic and other factors that contribute to the state's character. The Recreation Areas chart lists facilities available in national and state parks and other areas; unusual or special features of a park are also mentioned. READING THE LISTINGS Any attraction with a separate heading has been approved by a AAA field inspector or designated AAA representative. An attraction's quality is reflected in the length and scope of its general description. We have placed a star before attractions of exceptional interest and quality. An index to starred attractions appears with the orientation map. (See ABOUT MAPS, page 6.) Attractions are listed alphabetically under the name of the nearest community; in most cases the distances given are computed from the center of town, unless otherwise specified, using the following highway designations: I (interstate highway), US (federal highway), SR (state route), CR (county road), FM (farm to market road) and FR (forest road). Descriptive information about the attraction follows the location description. Next come the days, hours and seasons the attraction is open. These may be preceded by a suggested minimum visiting time. Following are admission prices quoted without sales tax; children under the lowest age specified are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Days, months and age groups written with a hyphen are inclusive. Credit cards accepted for admissions or fares may be indicated at the end of the listing as follows: AE, American Express; CB, Carte Blanche; DI, Diners Club; DS, Discover; ER, EnRoute; MC, MasterCard; VI, VISA. Minimum amounts that may be charged appear in parentheses when applicable. ADMISSION DISCOUNTS Your AAA membership card is the key to reduced prices at many attractions because they value your patronage and respect the AAA name. If a listing shows a discount, present your valid AAA or CAA card when purchasing tickets. A full list of participating attractions appears in the Indexes section of your this book. Attractions offer one of two kinds of discount. The first, a simple reduction in price, is designated by "Discount." The second, indicated by "Two-for-one discount," means that for each regularly paid admission, one free admission of like kind is granted. Except where noted discounts are offered for the validity period noted on the title page of this book. The discount is given to both adults and children unless otherwise specified and applies to the member and his or her family traveling together, usually up to six persons. The discount may not apply if any other price reduction is offered or if
