INSTALLING THE PROGRAIVI
IMPORTAriT: For the most up-to-date information concerning
the program's installation on Macintosh®- or IBM®- compatible
computers, please see the "Read Me" document on the disc.
ON MACINTOSH-COIVIPATIBLE COIVIPUTERS
1. Place the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
2. AnHRWGERMI CD-ROM icon will appear on the computer screen. Double-click the CD-ROIM icon. A window with the program's "Read Me" file and an installation icon will appear.
3. Double-click the installation icon and follow the procedures that appear on screen.
4. When installing the program, you have two options: Easy Install orTMS (Teacher Management System) Install.
Easy Install: This option allows individual users to access the program without prior set-up requirements. TMS Install: This option allows teachers to install the program with classroom management features, such as student records tracking. Refer to the Teacher's Guide for installation instmctions.
5. After installation is complete, double-click the program start-up icon that is now on your hard drive to launch the program.
ON IBM-COIVirATIBLE COiVIPUTERS (WITH WINDOWS')
1. Place the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
2. Locate the "SETUPEXE" file on the CD-ROM, double-click it, and follow the procedures that appear on screen.
3. When installing the program, you have two options: Easy Install or Teacher Management Installation.
Easy Install: This option allows individual users to access the program without prior set-up requirements. Teacher Management Installation: This option allows teachers to install the program with classroom management features, such as student records tracking. Refer to the Teacher's Guide for installation instructions.
4. Once the program is installed, you can launch the application by clicking the program start-up icon found in the designated directory within the Program Manager.

The Komm mitf^ Interactive CD-ROM Program offers students an opportunity to interact with the target language and culture in new and exciting ways. This product brings together print, graphics, video, and audio to provide an enjoyable and instructional language experience. Simulated real-life tasks provide a realistic context for language learning and will appeal to students with a wide variety of learning styles.
The CD-ROM is correlated into the Komm mit! program and is easy to integrate into your lesson plans. Open- and closed-ended activities on the CD-ROM can be used for practice and review at any point in the chapter. You can also use the oral and written assignments to assess your students and build their portfolios.
The Komm mit! Interactive CD-ROM Teacher's Guide is designed to help you use the CD-ROM program and its components.
Getting Started The professional essays on pages v-ix provide information about implementing CD-ROM and Internet technologies in the foreign language classroom. Pages xii-xxxiv describe system requirements, program installation, and strategies for optimizing student performance.
Correlation to the Pupil's Edition Every chapter of this guide begins with a chapter overview chart that includes the instructional objectives of the CD-ROM activities included in the chapter and references to the corresponding Pupil's Edition pages.
• Location Opener This guide provides a description of and suggestions for using every Location Opener travelogue and activity. These pages also provide correlation information with other components of the program. Every Location Opener has useful World Wide Web sites to help students expand and apply what they have learned.
• Actiuities Every chapter of the CD-ROM has sk activities that are broken down by Stufe to help your students practice
and review the functions, vocabulary, and grammar. This guide provides a synopsis of every activity and teaching suggestions for integrating most of the activities into your lessons.
• Landeskunde This section describes the activity and offers suggestions for using
it in your lessons. Certain chapters include suggestions for using the Internet to expand the activity.
• Zum Sprechen Every chapter of this guide provides you with the prompts or video script of the assignment in Zum Sprechen. If you're not working at a computer, you can use these references when planning lessons. Selected chapters include additional teaching suggestions.
• Zum Schreiben Every chapter of this guide provides you with the directions for each assignment in Zum Schreiben. If you're not working at a computer, you can use these references when planning lessons or grading assignments. Selected chapters include additional teaching suggestions.
Assessment Options Every chapter includes assessment options. These refer you to suggestions within the guide and to oral and written assignments in the Pupil's Edition and other ancillaries. You can use Ans MikrofonI and An die Tasten! to have students record or write these assignments.
Umlauts and Special Characters Pages 54 and 55 are lists of keyboard commands for making diacritical marks for Macintosh® and PC/Windows®.
Student Checklists Pages 56-58 provide checklists for students to keep track of activities they have completed on the CD-ROM.
