3& UUL, 3QjObcÁxur-'. lUaú ail aiwut tbes« tcsis, CATS and LOOK SHAÜP! This booklet is part of the LOOK SHARP project of Internationai Language School, Hungary (ILS). Our aim is to províde for the various needs of students of English, French, Germán, Hungárián, italian, Russian and Spanish by offeríng them objective tests that enhance the efficiency of standard series of textbooks in a wide rangé of skíils (grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, function etc.) and subjects (General Knowledge, Science, History, Geography, Literature, Fine Arts, various fíelds of engineering, humán relations, management...), and even personality or l.Q. tests. All the LOOK SHARP tests are classified according to language, skill or subject and level. The fírst character of the Test Nr. indícates the language (E for English, F for French, D for Germán, H for Hungárián, S for Spanish etc.). The second character indicates the level. In tests written for standard textbooks this is a number between 8 and 9 and shows the absolute level of testing which may coíncide with the entrance level of a particular term or semester. In test booklets on specific subjects and in test companíons to various books, however, the second character is a letter {A, B, C etc.) and only refers to the suggested order of completion of these booklets. The third character of every Test Nr. denotes the skill or subject on which that particular test concentrates. (G for grammar, F for function, V for vocabulary, R for reading comprehension, S for reading speed, M for mixed tests etc.) We encourage everybody to try to do the testing with the help of CATS (Computer Aided Testing System), developed at LOGOS Language School, Hungary). This sophisticated educational software offers step by step feedback to the student by telling hím whether or not his answer was correct, displays the correct answer, calculates the score and reading speed, measures the time and gives a printed certifícate of achievement. Thus the horror of traditíonal exams and testing periods is transformed into the joy of achievement and of new discoveries.
