To find yourself in the centre of Warsaw is almost like being in the heart of Europe. Rising very high and looking around you could see the whole of Poland. From the pláne it is not possible to see so much. But going gradually from the capital towards all parts of the world, it becomes clear how varied this country is; how its landscapes are extremly different and how great is their dissimilarity. There are dunes and pebbly beaches, lakes and big forests, fertile plains and uplands, there are gently rising mountains as well as those with rocky summits. Nature undergoing its seasonal changes during the year composes the lanscape's valuable frame. There are many places which are quiet and solitary giving alleviation, and places full of life and movement need for those who are looking for such entertainment. Let's first look northwards. The horizon is limited by the sea. It is the long shoreline of Baltic Sea. Two big ports dominate here: Szczecin to the west and the aggregate of the three neighbouring towns of Gdynia, Sopot and Gdansk to the east. 3Bf Looking from the seaside to the south, it is possible to identify two beautiful lands. These are the laké districts in Pomerania and Mazuria, Any country seeking to enchant the visitors could not feel ashamed of such richness of views. There are huge areas covered by big forests and many lakes: greats ones like Sniardwy or Mamry and small ones, whose names it is impossible to * remember. On the eastern side of the horizdn, the Bialowieza Primeval Forest spreads, a view which is not to be seen anywhere else in Europe. To the west, where the rich province of Wielkopolska is situated, there are alsó many lakes and rivers.
