ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Roozbeh Kangari is an Associate Professor, and Director of the Building Construction Program in the College of Architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, his M.S. from Syracuse University, and his B.S. from the University of Tehran. Dr. Kangari specializes in international construction, risk management in construction and environmental engineering, and innovative technologies. Dr. Kangari has an extensive publications record. He has worked as a consultant in the U.S., construction field engineer in the Middle East, research engineer at the technology division of the Shimizu Corporation in Tokyo, and at the Center for Building Science and Technology in France.
Chester L. Lucas has worked as a professional engineer for over forty-five years. Beginning foreign service in 1940 as a U.S. Army field engineer at the Panama Canal, he has headed offices in such countries as Panama, Ecuador, Italy, and Greece. Lucas's responsibilities have incorporated all aspects of an architect/engineer's organization—from design and operations to marketing and financial management—in national highway programs, town planning, public works, military installations, and housing. With a BSCE degree from Duke University, his most recent position was International Vice President of Sverdrup Corporation in St. Louis. Lucas, now semi-retired, is a consultant to architects, engineers, and contractors with international operations.
