Acknowledgments
On Good Friday, March 24, 1978, my father went home to be with the Lord. The day before he had finished helping me with a section of this book. I would be grossly remiss if I did not gratefully acknowledge first, not only his specific help with the book, but also the powerful role both he and my mother have had in getting me started learning about personal management. I witnessed their using "to do" lists, working hard to complete projects, and not settling for a job poorly done. They exhorted and encouraged me as I grew up.
To my wife, Judy, I express my thanks for her encouragement to me to write, her patience with me while I did write, and her example to me in how well she manages herself. I further express my thanks to her for doing the final edit on the finished manuscript.
To Cathy Hustedt I am deeply grateful for her tireless, thorough work in editing the entire book. Her sharp mind and intense desire for the concepts to be expressed clearly contributed greatly to what you will read.
To Rolland Dingman goes my appreciation for his illustrations that make the message much clearer and more easily remembered.
To Fred West I express my thanks for his research, comments and general availability to help.
To Vicki See, Sally Edgar, Bev Austin, Cris Holler, and Diana Heddens I give special thanks for the many volunteer hours spent typing.
To the John Lynches and the Bo Bottomlys I express my appreciation for quiet get-aways at crucial points in the writing and the editing.
