The desirability of providing organized material for the guidance of young investigators who are planning to devote their future to the exciting field of experimental pathology has been recognized in many academic and scientific quarters for several years. It is also generally agreed by experts that such a goal can only be achieved through serial-publication designed to ensure continuity of the information given on this rapidly developing, multidisciplinary branch of biology. Unfortunately, one person alone can no longer encompass the polyscience of experimental pathology: thus, the decision to publish a multi-author book-series would appear to be justified. It is not often, indeed, that an editor receives such whole-hearted interest and support as we experienced as we cast about in our efforts to find direction in planning and organizing these volumes. Nevertheless, the general scope of this book-series as well as the principles of our editorial policy that will govern its continuing publication in the future may well require an outline and explanation.
There are a number of symposium volumes available on various specialized aspects of experimental pathology.
