THE CITY IN FIGURES
Capital of the region of lombardy, Milán covers an area of about 182 square km and lies at 122 m above sea level in the middle of the Po River valley. It is Italy's business, financial and industrial centre and is second in population after Rome. The city developed in a concentric circle around its originál nucleus by incorporating the former industrial zones of Lambrate, Bicocca, Portello.
Water supply The pipelines run for 2,200 km.
Transport The public transport system has 3,030 vehicles that run on 121 lines and cover a totál of 1,312.3 square kilometres.
