The Moscow Kremlin holds a place apart among the numerous sights of the Soviet capital. It is our country's greatest historical monument, a creation of Russian national genius.There are several ancient kremlins in Russia, but the one in Moscow is superior to all of them, as it alsó is to many famous architectural monuments of the world, in the integrity and pictures-queness of the ensemble which is a perfectly finished work of art. Being the historic centre of Russia, and the centre of national crafts and culture, the Moscow Kremlin always attracted the finest builders, masons, carpenters, smiths and artists whose work was the embodiment of the Russian artistic traditions, experience and craftsmanship. Thus the Kremlin, personifying the genius of the people, became a monument to its gifted creators.On the Kremlin grounds, behind the tall walls, rise the old magnificent palaces, churches and belfries containing masterpieces of pictorial and decorative art, which after the Great October Socialist Revolútion have become the property of the people.The Socialist Revolution in Russia started a new chapter in the history of the Moscow Kremlin.
