Municipality Elections in Hungary 1998. [antikvár]

FOREWORD The President of the Republic of Hungary has posted October 18, 1998 as the day of the election of local municipal government representatives and mayors. The election of the respective selfgovernments of the various national and ethnic minorities is alsó to take place on this day, in the settlements where such had been initiated. The collection of legal regulation in English gathers all the election material law and administrative law regulations that shall be applied during the elections in a single volume. The booklet contains those statutes from the Constitution which deal with the election of municipal governments, ensuring a constitutional framework for the election and operation of local municipal governments. The purity of the election procedure is guarded by the Criminal Code establishing the legal category of criminal act against the order of election. The publication alsó includes the complete current text of Act LXIV of 1990 on the Election of Local Municipal Governmental Representatives and Mayors. This Act contains the material legislation pertaining to municipal governmental elections. We alsó provide those Articles of Act LXXVII of 1993 on the Rights of National and Ethnic Minorities, which determine the rules of initiating and the posting of local minority self-governmental elections. The publication offers a the generál provisions of Act C of 1997 on the Election Procedure in a uniform structure, as weil as the specialised rules - printed in italics - pertinent to the election of local municipal governmental and local minority self-governmental elections. Our intent was to provide interaational observers, press reporters, as weil as every foreign professional interested in this important event in Hungary's public life with precise and authentic legal information, in the form of this collection of legal regulations.
