C v )) PEEFACE. In presenting tliis Pocket Dictionary to the public, the publishers claim for it the jnsti-fication of its title. Most of the so-called pocket dictionaries are far too large and heavy to be carried comfortably, whereas this one is smaller, and but little heavier, than an ordinary pocket book. The compiler has used every effort to make such a judicious selection of words as to include all tliose in general use, and also an unusually large number of commercial and trade terms. By the rejection of superfluous synonyms it has been possible to avoid diamond type and transparent paper, and to print this little book in types which are probably unequalled for clearness in any dictionary of the kind. The publishers feel confident that it will be appreciated for pocket or travelling bag, and for desk or office.
