The psychologjcal conflicts, his deviant behaviour, including self-mutilation, and his extensive correspondence have resulted in many studies, explanations and retrospective medical diagnoses. The detail of a painting írom the last months of his life, shown on the front page, is an explosion of his colour expression and rhythmic brush stroke, with undulating movements and bold streaks of paint. Dramatic love affair with Margót Begemann. His father dies suddenly on 26 March; in November Vincent moves to Antwerp. At the end ofFebruary he leaves Antwerp to go and live with his brother Theo in Paris; works at Cormon 's smdio for three or four months. 1886-88 - Stays in Paris; becomes friendly with painters such as Emilé Bemard, Paul Gauguin. Paul Signac and Camille Pissano; comes under the influence of Impressionism and Pointillism. In Febniary leaves for Arles in Provence; from October to December Paiü Gauguin shares his house with him. which leads to an incident on Chrisrmas Eve. Theo van Gogh marries Jo Bonger on 18 April; in May, Vincent enters the asylum ofSaint-Paul in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, near Arles, as a voluntary patient. Theo and Johanna van Gogh 's son is bom on 31 January; he is named Vincent WíBem; in May, after a brief visit to Paris. Vincent moves to Auvers-sur-Oise; on 27 July he wounds himself with a pistol shot; dies on 29 July, at the age of thiny-seven.
