Freddy's First Day It was Freddy's first day in the new neighborhood. It was not like his old neighborhood. His old neighborhood had been flat. Here there were many hills. In the old neighborhood there had been many big buildings. But here there were only small houses. Freddy had had many friends to play with in the old neighborhood. Here he could not find anybody. It seemed very quiet. It was summertime. Freddy wanted to see more of the new neighborhood. He ran to the top of the hill on the street. He looked around. He could see very far from up there. He saw houses and a school and stores. He ran down the hill to the school. It was new. It had lots of room. There were little boys and girls playing in the schoolyard. But they were older than Freddy. There was no one his age to play with. 8
