Introduction
In 2008-2009 Pázmány Péter Catholic University and the University of Olso have realised a bilateral exhange poject called Aspects of the Sticdy of Regions and Regional Cooperation in Europe: Central Europe and Scandinavia. The mobility programme was supported by the EEA/Norwegian Financial Mechanisms with the contribution of Tempos Public Foundation and the Hungarian National Development Agency (NFÜ).
Faculties of Humanities of the two universities were involved and participants included teachers, administrative staff members and students. Altogether 8 teachers, 2 administrative staff members and 8 students spent study periods in the host country (either Norway or Hungary) that lasted from 1 week to 21 weeks.
Students took part in semester-long study periods in Oslo and have studied Norse culture, politics, society, regional cooperation, literary theory, aesthetics, journalism and many other fields mostly in connection with regional studies.
Two administrative staff members visited Oslo for a one-week staff training visit during which the major emphasis was laid on internationalisation and student mobility.
Teachers from Hungary and Norway mostly cooperated in curriculum development and were exploring the possibility of developing common courses and joint study programs in regional and cultural studies. Furthermore, they have been conducting research activities in their relevant fields of study and were asked to write a paper on their topics of interest. These papers-along with the best seminar or master papers of the participating students-are now presented to the reader. We trust that these contributions will not only serve the purposes of a project report but will be used as reference and study material not only at the participating universities but at other institutions as well as for the general public. Lectori salutem!
