ED1TORS' NOTE The Reader may find this volume eclectic when he or she looks at the list of contents. The editor could do little about this eclecticity, and, in fact, did not feel any inclination for doing the traditional editorial fob, that is omitting certain papers which do not seem to fit his conception of the topic while including others. The diversity of subjects (from multi-ethnic education to analytic researches or comparative efforts) and approaches (from purely philosophical to psychological or politological) together with the widely varying spectrum of writing styles resulted in the representation of many paradigms apparent in thinking about education both in the East and West. In an attempt to "Bridge" the "Gulfs" between the two political-economical worlds, one should first survey the spant the depth and the exact sites of the philosophical gaps. This conference could not take up more than this pioneering task, "engineering" bridges is left to the, hopefully, not very far future. After all the excuses why this volume has not been edited, the editors hope that the Reader will find this compilation of essays useful in his/her work and that it will foster new ideas about developing new frameworks which would help coin a new educational discours, and deeper understanding of different paradigms of educational philosophy.
