Bővebb ismertető
PRAGUE, the capital of the Czech Republic
(1,200,000 inhabitants), is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Here nature and architects have created a work where the monuments of ten centuries -from rotundas up to modern multi-storeyed buildings -combine to form a unique open-air gallery. The narrow lanes of the Old Town, Charles Bridge, the proud panorama of Hradcany, the palaces of the Little Quarter, a walk through Wenceslas Square, art collections in galleries and museums and pleasant moments spent in Prague's typical ale-houses and wine taverns - you will gladly remember all these places and things
From Prague's enormous wealth of architecture we have chosen for you buildings which you should not fail to see during your visit and which can all be taken in on a short sightseeing tour.
The starting point for your walks will be the Powder Gate, situated in the centre of the town. The individual buildings are numbered from 1 to 105 and they are ranked to form a route which, with the aid of the underground railway, you can easily cover on foot. You will also find the numbers of the described buildings on the respective schematic plan. The individual routes respect the former historic territories of the separate towns.
If you wish to manage without the underground railway, we recommend you to follow the so-called Royal Route, which runs from the Powder Gate (1) through Celetna street, Old Town Square (9), Small Square and the street Karlova ulice, crosses Charles Bridge and continues through Mostecka Street and Nerudova Street up to the Castle (60-71).
