Bővebb ismertető
Yoga is for everybodyYoga is more popular today than ever before. Since its arrival in the West, its contribution has been recognized in fields as diverse as sports, business, medicine, personal growth, and spirituality. Yoga is not about tying your body in knots or standing on your head, or following some arcane ritual. It is a tool for positive change. Yoga has something for everybody whether young or old, fit or unwell, active or sedentary.I hope you will discover for yourself that practicing yoga does make a difference to the quality of your life and your relationships. Yoga only asks that you set aside a little time to practice on a regular basis. Yoga for Every Body shows you how to do this. It is not a technical manual, but a basic guidehelping you to discover what yoga can offer for your body, your mind, and your spirit. The book uses simple practices in an effective way. Progression is gradual and accessible. There are both short and long practices, for various times of the day.The different possibilities that yoga can offer are presented in terms of fitness, well-being, and health. The people photographed in this book are all students or teachers themselves, experienced in finding room for yoga in their busy lives. I hope this book will particularly help those of you who do not have access to a teacher or a class. May the practice of yoga inspire you, as it has inspired me, to seek a teacher who can help in taking your yoga further. With that in mind and heart, I offer my respects to my teacher TK.V Desikachar and to his teacher. Desikachar has led me into a greater awareness of what I know, and, more importantly, what I don't know. This book is a spark fi-om the fire tended by such great teachers. May it nourish the light within all our hearts.
