Bővebb ismertető
The test-papers in this book have been devised mainly for the use of students who have completed, or nearly completed, their secondary education. Its purpose is to give somé guidance and assistance to such students in their preparation for first public examinations, such as Lower Certificate (Cambridge), Royal Society of Arts (Stages II and III) and Institute of Linguists (Grade II Certificate). The exercises are specifically designed to meet the new requirements of those studying for the Lower Certificate whether at home or abroad. Thirty passages are presented for detailed study, their average length being about 600 words. It is hoped that the variety in difficulty, in topic and in style will be found stimulating and helpful. There are narrative, discursive, expository and descriptive pieces and they are written, with a few exceptions with a modern outlook and in a modern style of English. General Instructions There are four different types of question. Unless specific instructions are given in the text they are to be answered in the following way. Question A There are five, sometimes ten, items. The examples here are of the multiple-choice type. What the student is asked to do, having first made a careful study ofthe passage, is to select the most appropriate of four choices.
