PUFFIN CLASSICS
REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM
You have probably never met anyone quite like
Rebecca Rowena Randall. Her elderly spinster
aunts in Riverboro certainly hadn't. And indeed,
they didn't choose to do so. What did they want
with a headstrong, wild and uncontrollable ten-
year-old?
It's a bit of a shock for Rebecca too, leaving the
warm chaos of her farmland home to be greeted by
the cold hospitality of the brick house. But it would
take an awful lot to dampen this particular girl's
irrepressible zest for life and passion for new
adventure, and Rebecca is soon embroiled in
various escapades, from door-to-door selling to
inviting missionaries home for tea!
This classic story, first published in 1903, follows
her life from the age of ten to seventeen - seven
eventful years lived absolutely up to the brim!
Kate Douglas Wiggin was born in 1856 in Phila-
delphia, and moved to San Francisco where she ran
the first kindergarten in the United States. She
wrote adult novels, but is best remembered for her
books for children.
