As it is well known, the contribution of our countiy to the international mathematical community in the field of geometry (especially differential geometry) is one of the most important. Taking into account - on one hand - of the fact that there is a long tradition in the study of differential geometry in Romania and - on the other hand - of the fact that after 1989 to organize international meetings in Romania became easier to be done, ten years ago (in 1993) I began to organize every other year (together with some of my colleagues) a series of international workshops on differential geometry and its applications, and since 1997 a series of German-Romanian seminars on geometry (every three years). The first five editions of these workshops were organized in Bucharest, Con-stantza, Sibiu, Brasov and Timisoara. The first two editions of the German-Romanian Seminar on geometry were organized together with T. Zamfirescu (Univ. of Dortmund - Germany) in September 1997 in Sibiu (together with the third workshop), and in July 2000 in Dortmund (Germany). This year - between 1st and 6th September it was organized the Sixth International Workshop on Differential Geomerty and its Applications and the Third German-Romanian Seminar on Geometry in Cluj-Napoca, the organizers of these meetings being: D. Andrica (Univ. "Babes Bolyai", Cluj-N^oca), R. lordanescu (IMAR), C. Pintea (Univ. "Babes Bolyai", Cluj-Napoca) and T. Zamfirescu (Univ. of Dortmund - Germany). The main goal of these meetings was to offer, especially to yoimg Romanian mathematicians, the opportunity to directly contact outstanding personalities over the world and to establish further scientifical cooperations with them. We have considered - especially - the fact that our young mathematicians generally do not have financial possibilities to travel abroad and to attend conferences, congresses and seminars. Let us recall with this respect that 25 talented Romanian young geometers (from Arad, Bucharest, Constantza and Timisoara) obtained through above mentioned Workshops and Seminars - grants for summer schools, master, Ph.D. or postdoc in Schwizerland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and USA. As a consequence of these workshops three important and efficient scientifical agreements was signed, namely: between the University of the West (Timisoara) and the University La Sapienza (Rome, Italy), between Ovidius University (Constantza) and the University of Granada (Spain) and - recently - between the University of the West (Timisoara) and the University of Santiago de Compostela
