Research and Development in the Hungarian Cable Works 10. [antikvár]

Dear Reader! This year we celebrate the lOth anniversary of the appearance of this publication. The jubilee number is intended to make you have a review of work being in process and the results we obtained in development and pro-duction of cables, not only one but retrospec-tively for the last 3 years. In comparison with the previous years the period of 1985 — 1987 showed remarkable advance not only in development of our technologies but we managed to raise signi-ficantly the level of our commercial activity. In this progress the most important parts were played by the self-financing factories, the permanent and close cooperation between the engineers and commercial specialists and our new trade policy pursued for adaptation the company to the changes in the world economy. The execution of the new sale-strategy was founded on a careful selection among the export markets and the modernization of product-structure aiming to increase our competitiveness the world markét. Success of the efforts made in this respect is proved e.g. by the fact that in case of the overhead conductors (they amount to 90% of the company's totál export to the capitalist countries) in addition to the markets we have already been having we could move into new ones, íirst of all by winning the tenders fi nanced by the IBRD in India and Turkey. It has been set as one of our most important task to expand our sales for the insulated cables and conductors representing high-technical level. The export of these products has started in the past two years and today we can already say we förmed very fruitful business relationship with our customers, which can give our long-term plans in the field of research and development a sure, strong base. As a result of this we exported to Sweden 1 kV, PVC-insulated power cables meeting the requirements of Swedish standards. This year we alsó succeeded in making use of new selling possibilities in West-Germany. Our company sold switch cables there and besides this we forwarded, installed and laid a 110 kV, cabel-line. In our opinion all this provided us an appropriate reference to the future export of power and telecommunication cables and conductors. Hopefully this brief introduction of the commercial and R & D activity can give you an overall picture of our company and can arouse our Readers' interest in the Hungárián Cable Works.
