EXPANDING THE ACCOMPANIMENT
Rhythm pattern suggestions may be included at the beginning of each song. Simply locate the number of the suggested rhythm pattern on the Accompaniment Rhythm Patterns chart found on page 3; then, use it as the accompaniment for the song.
In each rhythm pattern diagram, notes below the line indicate pedal tones; notes above the line indicate chords. The rhythm pattern can be used with any chord. For example, if Rhythm Pattern No. 2 is suggested, the first count is a pedal (same as name of the chord), the second count Is a chord, the third count is a pedal and the fourth count is a chord.
