Chapter OnePamela Lloyd-Hamilton blotted her lips with a tissue and then leaned forward to inspect her make-up in the mirror. She frowned at the faint crow's feet at the side of her eyes. Laugh lines, her father called them. Well, she didn't find them very funny! She put on the heavy gold earrings that Douglas had brought from New York. She quite liked them though she'd have liked them more if they'd come in a Tiffany's box. She put on her engagement ring and a ruby-studded eternity ring, sprayed Opium behind her ears and down her cleavage and then slipped into the jacket of her grey Donna Karan suit. She checked her appearance once more: dark hair pulled back in a perfect chignon with small tendrils hanging loosely around her thin face, pale-blue eyes emphasised with grey eyeshadow and black mascara, and large mouth painted in Chanel's latest plum shade. She nodded, satisfied with her appearance. She looked elegant and feminine but professional. Perfect.Douglas shifted in the bed and she took a step towards him but he rolled over and started to snore. She shrugged, picked up her bag and suitcase and let herself out of the room quietly. It was seven fifteen and
